Office Décor: Avoid Making These 5 Common Mistakes!

Let’s set the scene. Your office space is looking a bit worse for wear, and you feel like it’s time to refresh its look. You have some ideas in mind, and you’re happy to invest as much money as needed to achieve the best results for your workspace.

Employee satisfaction and wellbeing is important to you, so it’s essential you take the right steps to create a beautiful, creative, and inspiring working environment for your teams.

However, you’re unsure of which office decorating mistakes you should avoid. With that in mind, take a look at the following five common mistakes, so you know not to make them:

1. Not Having Different Themed Areas

One essential point you must remember is that sticking with the same decor or design theme across your entire office area is wrong. The last thing you want is to have a uniform look, as you need different visuals to create focal points throughout your workspace.

Think about how you can create stunning themed workspaces in your office environment. For example, you could get inspiration from Unicorn Wonderland to create a unicorn-themed room, or maybe a sci-fi inspired area for your recreational room.

2. Failing To Address Inadequate Lighting

Your employees and visitors must see what they’re doing or where they’re going within the confines of your office environment. The way to achieve that goal is by ensuring there is plenty of bright lighting available.

Don’t make the mistake of sticking with the same lighting setup as before your office decor upgrade.

Instead, use the opportunity to invest in LED lighting technology throughout your office space, either to upgrade existing light setups or install new ones in notoriously dark areas.

3. Forgetting To Maximize Office Space

Office space is often at a premium, especially when you add in new hires. That’s why it makes perfect sense to work with what you’ve got and maximize the space available to you.

Look at ways you can better organize storage options for your employees and the things they use daily as they work. Plenty of space-saving storage options exist, so you won’t find it hard to incorporate clever and creative solutions for your particular environment.

4. Encouraging Clutter And Disorganization

You know all those stock images of office environments, where everyone has clean and tidy workstations, and there is no clutter anywhere? Sadly, those picture-perfect offices seldom exist in the real world.

Still, that doesn’t mean it’s not something you can strive for when you’re redecorating your office workspace!

One example might be to provide each employee with desk drawers to store stationery items and personal effects out of sight.

5. Leaving No Space For Indoor Plants

Finally, every office environment should have some indoor plants. Not only do they look great in any workspace, but they also help filter the air of carbon dioxide and improve everyone’s health and wellbeing.

Don’t make the mistake of reorganizing the layout of your office without considering where you could put some indoor plants.
